I will not tolerate galamsey in Atwima Nwabiagya South- MCE declares war on illegal mining

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya South in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Wisdom Osei Boama has strongly declared that he will never tolerate illegal mining activities in the municipality, as his vision is to bring development to the people.

According to the MCE, since assuming office, he has been firm in the fight against illegal mining, stressing that several illegal miners have been arrested under his administration.

He clarified that there are currently only three licensed small-scale mining companies operating within the district, all of which are engaged in responsible and regulated mining activities.

Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah emphasised that his administration remains committed to protecting the environment while ensuring lawful economic activities are carried out in the district.

“I am tirelessly working hard to ensure the good people of Atwima Nwabiagya South get the developmental projects they deserve to improve the lives of the people”, he stressed.

Backing the MCE’s assertion, the Assembly’s Coordinator Eric Anarfi revealed that Atwima Nwabiagya South has witnessed significant development since the DCE took office.

He noted that the Assembly has undertaken numerous educational infrastructure projects, particularly in rural communities such as Bankyease and surrounding areas, to improve access to quality education.

The Coordinator further disclosed that the health sector has not been left out, with several communities benefiting from improved and newly established health centres across the municipality.

Meanwhile, some residents have commended the Assembly for its efforts in improving road conditions. They expressed satisfaction with the grading and reshaping of deplorable roads, which they say have eased transportation challenges and boosted economic activities in the area.
