HopeXchange Medical Center impacts lives through their “Support a sick and needy child” initiative

The Child Health Department at  HopeXchange Medical Centre has engaged stakeholders and other philanthropists in a fundraising forum mainly for the completion of the Maternal-Child Health project, and also to support children with  financial challenges at the center.

Speaking on the theme “Support a sick and needy child”, Dr Adoma Odame, a Senior Specialist Paediatrician at the HopeXchange Medical Centre said, this initiative by the facility is to ensure children brought to the centre receive the best of medical care despite their financial situation.

She continued that it is true that some parents and guardians of sick children sometimes have to rely on the hospital for financial assistance, of which that should not denied the child access to quality healthcare.

Dr. Adoma Odame continues that, based on the challenges, the centre has initiated a fund specifically to support such children in getting the necessary treatment they need.

The Senior Specialist Paediatrician at the HopeXchange Medical Centre stressed that it would be best if there were a policy that would automatically enrol newborn babies on the NHIS right after birth to guarantee them access to healthcare wherever they find themselves.

Stressing that it would be sad to witness how sometimes are being detained by some health centres just because they couldn’t afford their medical bills.

She further advised Ghanaians to make it a habit to support the sick and needy ones at  hospitals on their birthday and other meaningful celebrations in their lives.

The General Manager of HopeXchange Medical Centre, Mr Dominic Osei Kofi, said the vision of the centre is to prioritise the well-being of their patients and ensure they deliver the best of quality healthcare to them.

Adding that the facility has been supporting needy patients from their fund and other support from philanthropists, but would still call on other individuals to assist them in whatever way they can to continue their generosity to the sick and needy ones at the center.

He stated that the government has been assisting the center with certain concerns, would still urge the government to include certain sicknesses in the NHIS to better the less privileged in the rural areas.
