We Only See Tarred Roads in Kumasi – Manso-Datano Residents Cry Out Over Bad Roads

Residents of Manso-Datano, a farming community in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region, have made a passionate appeal to government and relevant authorities to come to their aid over poor road infrastructure and electricity challenges crippling life in the area.
During a visit to the community, residents lamented that there is no single tarred road in Manso-Datano, describing the road network as extremely deplorable and dusty during the dry season, and muddy and almost impassable whenever it rains.
According to them, the only time they see tarred roads is when they travel to Kumasi, a situation they say clearly shows the level of neglect the community has suffered over the years.

Beyond the road challenges, residents also complained bitterly about electricity extension problems, saying several parts of the community are still without power, making daily life and economic activities difficult.
Community members revealed that, in the absence of government support, one individual, Nana Agyei Sikapa, has taken it upon himself to help the area.
They disclosed that Nana Agyei Sikapa is using his personal resources to extend electricity to some homes and also carry out grading of the badly deteriorated roads to make them motorable.

Residents praised his efforts but stressed that the burden is too heavy for one man to carry, insisting that development of the community should not be left in private hands alone.
They therefore appealed passionately to government, the District Assembly, and relevant state agencies to urgently intervene by fixing the roads and completing electricity extensions to improve living conditions in Manso-Datano.

Meanwhile, a philanthropist and resident supporter of the area, Nana Agyei Sikapa, says the situation in Manso-Datano is worrying and cannot be ignored.
He said the poor state of the roads and the electricity challenges are seriously affecting the growth of the community, a situation that compelled him to use his own resources to support electricity extension and help grade the deplorable roads to ease movement.

Nana Agyei Sikapa noted that although he is doing his best, the problems are beyond the capacity of one individual, stressing that sustainable development can only be achieved through collective effort.
He therefore appealed to government, the District Assembly, corporate bodies, and other well-meaning stakeholders to come on board and support the community so that Manso-Datano can develop and thrive.
