UP Africa Movement Feeds Hundreds of Vulnerable on The Street of Kumasi
As part of the UP Africa Movement’s vision and mission to transform the financial life of the good people of Ghana through their online trading business, the organization has displayed a heartwarming generosity by feeding hundreds of vulnerable on the streets of some areas in Kumasi.
This initiative by the organization forms part of their aim to reduce poverty in Ghana by giving a helping hand to these vulnerable children and their families begging on the streets for their daily means.
The UP Project Charity Initiative aligns with the company’s mission to train Ghanaians on online trading and gain financial independence without the constraints of a traditional economy.
The outreach began at the Amakom Children’s Park and extended through Asafo, Labour, Adum, and other areas, where UP Africa Movement distributed bags of rice and cooking oil to these struggling parents, while street children were also treated to warm meals of jollof rice and drinks, bringing smiles to their faces.
Speaking on the motivation behind the project, the Director of UP Africa Movement, Mr David Okofo Megga, stressed the importance of giving back to the less privileged in the society in which we live.
“Whenever one is financially stable, all they have to do is give back to society to help the needy, and that is what the UP Project stands to do in people’s financial lives.
Beyond the feeding initiative, Mr Megga revealed a long-term vision to rescue children from the streets, educate them, and equip them with skills to attain financial stability.
“Moving forward, the UP Project Charity Initiative will pick children from the streets who have potential, give them education, train them, and introduce them to the UP Africa Movement so they can be financially stable. In turn, they will return to help their families and reduce poverty among them,” he stressed.
He also lamented the hardships that force many street children to involve themselves in certain lifestyles such as armed robbery, drug abuse, prostitution, and many other social devices that tend to destroy their future.
Emphasizing that this UP Africa Movement initiative aims at curbing this looming menace, which can cause the country a great risk if proper measures are not put in place.
Mr Megga further called on the government to intervene urgently by providing shelters and improving access to education for street children.
“Government must open shelters for them and improve their education levels so they can contribute positively to the country instead of becoming a burden,” he urged.
Additionally, he pointed out the lack of financial literacy among Ghanaian youth and reiterated the UP Africa Movement’s commitment to addressing this gap.
“Most Ghanaian youth have little knowledge about financial literacy and management, and we are working to change that by training people to become financially independent,” he concluded.
The UP Project Charity Initiative serves as a beacon of hope for street children in Kumasi, demonstrating that with the right support and training, they can build a brighter future beyond their current struggles.
