Residents of Amakyebare Seek Otumfuo’s Intervention Over Illegal Mining Activities in The Community
The residents of Amakyebare, a farming community in the Atwima Nwabiagya North Municipality, have raised concerns against illegal miners who have invaded their community.
According to them, their chief and leaders have turned a blind eye to the issue, leaving them with no option but to seek help from the Asantehene.
The situation escalated when some youth burned one of the miners’ excavators and some equipment.
Stressing that the community is primarily a farming area and that illegal mining activities could cause a lot to take place in the area.
Residents of Amakyebare continue that if these illegal mining activities are not stopped, it could lead to the destruction of their farmlands and water bodies.
“We are therefore calling on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to use his influence to stop the illegal mining activities in our community as we believe Asantehene’s intervention would bring an end to the menace and restore peace to their community”, they emphasised.
