Private School Heads Lament Exclusion from Government Textbook Distribution

Heads of private schools have expressed growing concern over government decisions that exclude them from the distribution of approved textbooks, saying the situation continues to affect effective teaching and learning.
According to the headmasters, private schools often struggle to access government-approved textbooks, forcing them to purchase the materials at high market prices, which increases operational costs.

They described the challenge as a long-standing issue and are appealing to the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service to reconsider their position by including private schools in textbook distribution or significantly reducing the cost to enable them to purchase the books.
Mr. Isaac Kwadwo Mbro, Proprietor of Calvary Educational Complex in Kumasi, made the appeal during the school’s fifth anniversary celebration.

He noted that private schools complement government efforts in education and therefore deserve equal access to teaching and learning materials.
Speaking at the same event, the General Overseer of the Calvary Charismatic Center CCC Church, Pastor Ransford Obeng, urged parents to fully commit themselves to the holistic development of their children.
He emphasized that education should not be limited to academics but should also include moral, spiritual, and social upbringing.
