NHIA Has Launched The Market Storm and MyNHIS APP Project in Kumasi Aimed to Improve the Scheme Services

The Ashanti Regional National Health Insurance Authority has launched the Market Storm and MyNHIS APP sensitisation project aimed at bringing registration and renewal of NHIS to the doorsteps of the citizenry.

The launch came with a walk which started from the regional headquarters of NHIA, passed through Asafo and Fante Newtown to interact with people in the area, moved to Alabar and Dr Mensah to educate traders, drivers, and hawkers, and landed at Kejetia, Pampaso, and ended in Adum where several people were engaged on how to download the NHIS App.

During an interview with the media, Mr Mohammed Muniru Muntaka, the Ashanti Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Authority, explained that the motive behind this launch was to bring NHIS closer to the people, especially market women, drivers, and many others, through the NHIS App and sensitise them on how it works.

He said, most market women and drivers find it difficult to visit the scheme offices for any enquiries, wherever they find themselves, due to busy schedules, which is why the market Storm and MyNHIS APP has been introduced to bring NHIS closer to them without visiting the office.

Mr Mohammed Muniru Muntaka continues that aside from the *929# renewal method, the introduction of the MyNHIS APP will give one access to any information on the NHIS once the app is downloaded. Therefore, I urge all to download the app on their smartphones to enjoy all the benefits of the scheme.

The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Authority called on health facilities working with the scheme to refrain from charging people for some diseases that are covered by the NHIS to avoid termination of contract since such issues are brought to care frequently.

He stressed that the scheme is there to provide better health delivery to the people of Ghana, which calls for the need for health facilities to facilitate that motive and ensure they deliver to the expectations of the citizenry.

Mr Mohammed Muniru Muntaka called on all Ghanaians to partake in the NHIS since it could be of help in future circumstances.
