NHIA CEO Outline His Visions As He Engages Some Staff in Ashanti Region

In a bid to provide accessible healthcare for all, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr Victor Asare Bampoe, has engaged some leadership of NHIA offices in the Ashanti region to discuss some key issues that can help improve the NHIS for the benefit of the people in the region.

According to him, this initiative forms part of his tour to the region as Ashanti has the most facilities of NHIA and 17% of its members. Stressing that if any major project is being implemented here, it would bring a positive impact to the region and the people as well.

Dr Victor Asare Bampoe elaborated that his visit to the region is to outline his vision and see how leaders of NHIA officers in Ashanti would cooperate with him to deliver the best services to the good people.

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority further added that another major factor that forms part of his tour to the region is to explain in detail the “Mahama Care” initiative and the free primary care as well.

Emphasizing that the “Mahama Care” initiative, when implemented, seeks to cater to most illnesses, which some are finding it difficult to receive treatment due to financial challenges, unlike the primary care that caters for minor illnesses.

Dr Victor Asare Bampoe made this statement during an engagement with the media to outline the motive behind his tour to the Ashanti region.

He continues that, after resuming office as the CEO of NHIA, the NHIA, with the support from the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Minta. Akandoh has been able to pay arrears of NHIS service providers owned by the previous government.

The CEO of NHIA stated that the Health Minister has also made a way for them to get their funds directly to their account, which would make their work very effective in voiding the stress NHIA passes through before getting funds.

Dr Victor Asare Bampoe said that with this much support given to them, NHIA would ensure these funds are put to good use and delivered to the expectations of the people without any mismanagement.
