MTN Ghana Throws Strong Support Behind Asantifest 2026 as Kumasi Hosts Grand Launch

Telecommunications giant MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to promoting culture and regional development with a bold pledge to support the 2026 edition of Asanteman Festival, also known as Asantifest.

The announcement was made during the grand launch of the festival held at Kaase in the Asokwa Municipality of Ashanti ere industry players, government officials, and cultural stakeholders gathered to unveil what promises to be a transformative event.

Addressing the media, the Senior Manager for General Trade (Northern Ghana) At MTN, Simon Amoh underscored the indispensable role of culture in national growth and identity. He described culture as a priceless asset that defines the heritage of both Ghana and the Ashanti Kingdom.

According to him, MTN’s decision to support Asantifest 2026 is not only strategic but also aligned with the company’s broader vision of empowering communities and preserving Ghana’s rich cultural legacy.

He added that the telecom giant will roll out a series of impactful activities throughout the festival to enhance its success and reach.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, revealed that this year’s Asantifest will transcend the usual cultural festivities to deliver tangible social and economic benefits to the people of the region.

He disclosed that part of the festival’s legacy projects will include the renovation of the female prison health centre, a move aimed at significantly improving healthcare delivery for inmates and addressing longstanding infrastructural challenges.

In a further boost to youth empowerment, Dr Amoakohene announced the rollout of an ambitious apprenticeship programme that will engage a minimum of 50 young people in each constituency across the Ashanti Region.

Beneficiaries of the initiative will receive monthly stipends to support their training, equipping them with practical, employable skills, and reducing unemployment.

Additionally, he revealed that the government, under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, has committed a substantial GH¢20 million investment to revitalise the Kumawood film industry.

The initiative is expected to stimulate local film production, create jobs, and reposition the sector as a key driver of the creative economy.

The 2026 Asantifest is expected to feature an exciting lineup of activities, including vibrant cultural displays, trade and investment exhibitions, musical concerts, and high-level business forums all carefully curated to promote tourism, attract investment, and accelerate economic growth within the Ashanti Region.
