MCE Delivers Cement to Rescue Collapsing School Building at Offinso Asamankama

Offinso Asamankama State ‘B’ Basic School in the Offinso Municipality of the Ashanti Region has received much-needed support after authorities appealed for help over a collapsing Kindergarten (KG) block.

The unsafe structure had been abandoned after parts of it gave way, forcing school authorities to evacuate pupils to prevent any accidents. Rusty roofing sheets and weakened walls left the children exposed to harsh weather, making teaching and learning impossible.

Relief came on January 26 when the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Offinso South, Hon. Frank Owusu Amoah, presented 20 bags of cement to reshape the KG block and promised sand to complete the renovation.

“We are grateful for this timely intervention. The support will go a long way in securing the safety of our pupils,” he said.

The Acting Headmaster, Mr. Samuel Agyei Kodua, had previously described the situation as worrying and long-standing, noting that several appeals for assistance had been made.

Meanwhile, the Headmaster, Mr. Marfo Kwaku, thanked the MCE and the Offinso South Municipal Assembly for responding promptly to the school’s plea.

“On behalf of the staff and pupils, we are very grateful for the support. It will make a huge difference to our school community,” he said.
