KMA Supports Dagomba Line Fire Victims With Food Items and Other Necessities

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has presented food items and other necessities to the Afful Nkwanta Dagomba line fire victims to alleviate the challenges they face following the fire incident on January 17, 2026.

The Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, who led the team to the scene, shared his grievances with the victims of the fire incident, as many properties and homes have been lost, leaving many homeless and stranded.

He further added that despite the situation these victims are currently in, they have made progress by making a temporary structure for themselves to curb the situation at hand.

The Mayor of KMA emphasised that while the cause of the fire outbreak is still unknown as they are waiting on the Fire Service for a report, he would urge them to refrain from any activities that could cause another outbreak in the future.

King Zuba further stressed that it is sad for one to lose their hard-earned sweat to fire within a short time. Adding that the assembly has made an effort to support them with bags of rice, second-hand clothes, mattresses, and other necessities for the meantime while they will make an effort to assist them whenever the need arises.

The Chairman of Oforikrom Dagomba Line Scrap Dealers Association, Mr Mohammed Salifu said they will do their very best to ensure such an incident would never repeat itself by monitoring the activities of the people in the area.

He continued that the slum-like nature of the area prevented the fire service from getting quick access to the scene leading to the fire destroying hundreds of properties at a go.
