Fire Outbreaks in January 2026 have reduced, showing an improvement than last year’s own- Ashanti Fire Command

As Ghana is still experiencing the harmattan season, fire outbreaks have been a major worry for most Ghanaians, with the recent incidents destroying a lot of properties and leaving many homeless.

In response to that, the Public Relations Officer for the Ashanti Regional Fire Command, ADO1 Antwi Bosiako in an interview with Ali Baba Dankambary during Breaking News hour explained that the incidents of fire outbreaks are causing a great loss to the country, which is very worrying.

He continues that statistics show that the incidents of fire outbreaks from January 1st to January 31st 2026 are 132, which is a little better than last year’s own, which was 180, showing an improvement although there is still more to be done about the situation.

ADO1 emphasised that the recent fire outbreaks at Sofoline, Atonsu Bokuro, and Anwona market have put fear in some citizens. Stating that all these incidents highlight the need for increased fire safety measures and awareness creation.

The PRO for the Ashanti Regional Fire Command further added that the Command has put in place policies to ensure fire incidents are reduced in the region.

He stressed that the numerous fire outbreaks are mostly caused by our negligence and our attitude towards safety in our various homes, workplaces, markets, dormitories, etc.

ADO1 Antwi Bosiako called for the need for all to collectively ensure we follow the safety precautions especially switching off our electrical gadgets when leaving the house to avoid fire outbreaks whenever there is a power cut of our electricity.
