Lawyer John Darko Supports PWDs and Special Care Children in Suame Municipality

The Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency, Hon Lawyer John Darko, has donated white canes and nutritional supplements to some persons with disabilities and special care children in the municipality.

During an interview with the media, Hon Lawyer John Darko said it is very worrying when most PWDs and special care children feel neglected in the society in which they find themselves, especially those with sight challenges.

He continued that people with total blindness usually find it difficult, especially when crossing the road, which persuaded him to donate these items to them to alleviate the challenges they encountered.

The Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency stressed that it is very wrong when disability funds allocated for PWDs at the various assemblies are used by the assembly while denying these people access to the funds.

Hon. Lawyer John Darko further added that it is disheartening when they are put through such challenges by the assembly. Stating that the committee set up by parliament would start punishing those who do not use the disability fund at the various assemblies for its purpose by facing the law since those funds are for the well-being of PWDs.

The Ashanti Regional Vice Chairman of the Blind Union and President of Suame Blind Union, Mr Akwasi Boakye Yiadom, expressed gratitude to Lawyer John Darko for his support towards them.

Emphasising the numerous challenges various assemblies put them through, which is very worrying, therefore urging the government to intervene on their behalf as this issue is affecting their lives as PWDs.
