UP Africa Movement Trains Artisans in Online Trading to Promote Business Growth and Financial Independence
The UP Africa Movement has taken a bold step in empowering artisans in Kumasi and beyond by introducing a digital training initiative to transform traditional businesses through online trading.
The initiative forms part of the organisation’s broader agenda to promote financial independence and long-term business sustainability among local artisans.
During the seminar, artisans were equipped with the necessary skills to take their businesses online, tap into global markets, and expand their customer base beyond local boundaries.
The initiative, which forms part of a strategic collaboration with renowned e-commerce platforms, aimed at helping break down long-standing barriers that have hindered artisans from entering the digital economy.
Participants were trained in a wide range of areas, including digital marketing, customer engagement, product branding, bookkeeping, and inventory management.
These modules are carefully designed to empower artisans to manage online stores effectively and build strong, scalable businesses.
In addition to the training, the UP Africa Movement is working closely with other institutions to help artisans access much-needed capital.
These funding opportunities are tied to their performance on online trading platforms, allowing deserving artisans to grow their businesses with increased confidence and resources.
Addressing the media during the training, Mr. David Okofo Megga, Chief Executive Officer of the UP Africa Movement, underscored the importance of digital inclusion in artisan development. “We are not just teaching skills; we are creating pathways for wealth, independence, and economic transformation,” he noted.
“Artisans who embrace digital trading will see significant improvements in revenue and overall business growth,” he stressed.
David Okofo Megga emphasised that with the right tools and access to capital, artisans could expand their product range, create employment, and contribute more significantly to their local economies.
Some participants who attended the UP Africa Movement seminar shared their satisfaction with the program, describing it as timely and inspirational.
They expressed optimism about their future in digital trade, with many already taking steps to register on online platforms and rebrand their businesses.
