*Sugarcane Farmers Association Congratulate John Mahama For His Victory in 2024 General Elections*

The Association of Sugarcane Farmers has extended their heartfelt congratulations to President-Elect John Dramani Mahama and Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang for emerging victorious in the 2024 elections.

According to Nana Joshua Kingsley Mensah, the secretary of the association, it was the fervent prayer of the association that the NDC and its flagbearer would assume political power to revisit the Komenda Sugar Factory which was abandoned by the outgoing NPP administration.

Stressing that they were fully aware that the previous NDC government made necessary arrangements to secure a loan for the expansion of the raw materials base of the factory. Additionally, they were made to understand that the out-growers farmers would be the greater beneficiaries in improving their living conditions.

Nana Joshua Kingsley Mensah continues that the association would be glad if this coming administration could secure the said loan from the Exim Bank of India as soon as possible and engage all stakeholders, appoint an efficient board of directors, and appoint a competent management team that would work to ensure their dreams become a reality.

The Secretary of the Sugarcane Farmers Association, therefore, called on the President-Elect to establish a National Sugar Board that will help regulate and tap the sugar potential in the country. Emphasising that they are hopeful that the incoming NDC administration has no reason to fail the people of Komenda since the factory was established by the John Mahama-led government.

Stating that the vice president-elect, whose hometown is where the factory is situated, will ensure that it becomes operational to create jobs for the youth in the area.
